The mural will be held in place by a metal framework. This sounds simple until you take on board that the wall is slightly bumpy and also slightly curved. So this framework is a big deal.
The mural is then enamelled onto 41 sheets made of mild metal. The sheets have to fit into the oven in order to have the enamels baked onto them. We had a bit of a false start when we prepared the artwork for the size of the oven… not the inside of the oven, but the outside. And who amongst us hasn’t bought a baking tray that fits the outside measurements…
Anyhow, all through July and much of August, the factory was busy making metal sheets. In between that, we also had many discussions about how to get accurate colours from our computer onto the metalwork.
